Myopia Control Program includes:
*This 1-year program will be closely supervised by our Ophthalmologists and Clinical Optometrists.
In myopia control, children are given 0.01%, a very low concentration of Atropine, which aims to slow the progression of Myopia, and to prevent rapid progression.
Children using Atropine in Myopia control usually wear glasses during the daytime, and use a drop of Atropine in each eye at night before sleep. This eye drop usually do not sting, and will not affect the child’s vision or focusing abilities.
Progressive Addition Lenses (PALs)
Used to control the rapid progression of myopia, especially in children with accommodative response related symptoms such as eyestrain. This lens is designed to provide the proper distance prescription and a lower near prescription to read or for any close-up work.
Children’s Myovision spectacle lenses
Designed to tackle against Peripheral Retinal Hyperopic Defocus – the technical name of an optical problem faced by most myopic children where the eyes are more elongated’ in shape compared to normal eyes. As the image on the peripheral retina is out-of-focused, it triggersmyopia to progress even faster.
Bifocal glasses incorporating Prisms
Prism is incorporated in the reading addition portion of the glasses and hence, showing promising results in reducing the progression of myopia in children. These lenses will require optometrist in prescribing and dispensing after a thorough investigation of the child’s vision.
